Biography
A native of New Jersey, Kevin Kelly is an Affiliate Artist Teacher
at Drew University,
in Madison, New Jersey. He has most recently completed the degree
of Master of Music in Voice Performance and Vocal Pedagogy at Westminster
Choir College of Rider University, where he graduated with distinction,
and studied with Margaret Cusack, Assistant Professor of Voice. Prior
to attending Westminster, Kevin received the Bachelor of Arts in Music
degree from Drew, where he studied with Garyth Nair, Associate Professor
of Music.
Kevin has appeared with Jerome Hines's Opera
Music Theatre International in a staged reading of Verdi's Rigoletto,
singing the role of Marullo. His other performance credits include solo
appearances with ensembles across Central and Northern New Jersey, including
Summit Chorale,
New Jersey's oldest active chorale ensemble; Diamond Hill Chorus; the
Drew University Chorale; the Chamber Symphony of New Jersey; Music at
St. Peter's, St.
Peter's Episcopal Church, Morristown, New Jersey; as well as in
recital at Westminster. In addition to solo engagements, Kevin has appeared
in choral ensemble with the Westminster Symphonic Choir in performances
with the New Jersey Symphony under the direction of Zdenek Macal and
the New York
Philharmonic under Kurt Masur. Kevin was also in residence at Lincoln
and Canterbury Cathedrals in England in the summer of 1998, with the
Choir of Men and Boys of St. Peter's Church, Morristown.
In addition to his performance schedule, Kevin also pursues active
academic interests in the area of Vocal Pedagogy, specializing in the
application of computer assisted imaging devices as a teaching tool
for teachers of voice, and serves on the board of directors of the Institute
for the Psychological and Pedagogical Study of Voice Performance,
based in Philadelphia, PA. He currently works and lives in the Washington,
DC Metro area.
